South Korea jails Telegram sex crime ring leader for life
Kim Nok-wan, 33, was convicted of orchestrating and participating in the crime network known as “The Vigilantes,” which produced and distributed sexual exploitation videos, coerced victims using illegally produced material, and committed quasi-rape, reports said.
In addition to the life sentence, the Seoul Central District Court ordered that Kim’s personal information be made publicly accessible on digital networks for 10 years. He will also face a 10-year employment ban and will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device for 30 years.
Kim operated the crime ring from May 2020 until January 2025, sexually abusing children and teenagers while posing as a “pastor.” Members of the gang also blackmailed men and women into sharing nude photos, which were then used to produce and circulate sexually exploitative videos.
