US Greenlights USD292M Missile Sale to South Korea

(MENAFN) The US Department of State announced Wednesday it had approved the potential sale of 70 AIM-120C-8 advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles and accompanying guidance sections to South Korea, in a deal valued at an estimated $292 million.

"The proposed sale will improve the Republic of Korea's capability to meet current and future threats by expanding its air defense capability, deterring aggression in the region, and ensuring interoperability with U.S. Forces," the department said in a statement.

The primary contractor for the deal will be RTX Corporation, headquartered in the US state of Virginia.
