ROK Army College visits Indianhead Division, strengthens alliance readiness

CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea — More than 100 students from the Republic of Korea Army College visited the 2nd Infantry Division/Republic of Korea-U.S. Combined Division on Sept. 3, 2026, for a professional engagement focused on combined operations, tactical readiness and alliance cooperation. The visit supported the division’s campaign plan with the objective of strengthening the alliance through key engagements.

Hosted by the 2nd Infantry Division/Republic of Korea-U.S. Combined Division, the event gave Republic of Korea student officers firsthand exposure to the division’s mission and role in combined operations. The visit aimed at deepening the officers’ understanding of tactical readiness in a combined environment and encourage future service in key division staff positions.

“The nature of war has not changed, but the character of war is changing rapidly, and the best way to meet this challenge is together,” said Col. Patrick G. Schuck, deputy commanding general of support. “Our combined connections and bonds help us withstand disruption as we work together faster and more effectively.”

The itinerary included a welcome photo at the 2ID Kiwa viewing stand, a visit to division headquarters, welcoming remarks from division leadership, a briefing and a question-and-answer session with command and senior staff members. The delegation also toured the 2ID Museum before returning to the Republic of Korea Army College.

“This visit was a valuable opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of combined operations and the important role of the 2nd Infantry Division/Republic of Korea-U.S. Combined Division,” said Maj. Jeon Hong-tae, training control officer at the Republic of Korea Army College. “As future leaders of the ROK Army, this experience reinforced the importance of trust, communication and interoperability between our two forces. I believe these relationships will continue to strengthen the ROK-U.S. alliance and our combined readiness.”

Engagements such as this reinforce the enduring partnership between Republic of Korea and U.S. forces by building shared understanding, strengthening professional relationships and developing future leaders prepared to operate effectively in a combined setting.
